I lead small teams to design user interfaces backed by research, implementable by engineers, and loved by users.
After a decade of advertising industry design and development experience I developed, co-founded, and subsequently sold PillowMob, an e-commerce company that turns your head into a pillow. While PillowMob was running itself I developed the menus and scoreboards for Halo 4. In 2014-15, I designed and developed an iOS app for Motorola that uses end-to-end encryption for group and private push-to-talk secure communications for governments and corporations.
Currently, I am designing new features, developing prototypes, and influencing the direction of Google Cloud.
In my free time you can find me picnicking with my wife and son, scootering through the Pacific Northwest, listening to African Blues, watching a French New Wave, or thinking about the future in a foreign land.
Leading small teams to design, prototype, and validate new products and features for Google Cloud Platform. Design process includes researching user needs, product manager’s priorities, market competition, front and back-end engineering constraints, team's bandwidth, UX patterns, and study plan to inform designs and prototypes for user research. Works closely with engineers during implemenation and launch. Projects include load balancing, UI components, IAM, and admin tools, which accounts for more than 25% of Google Cloud Platform traffic.
Lead UX/UI design and iOS UI architecture for a Motorola app that uses end-to-end encryption for group and private push-to-talk secure communications for 5,000 concurrent users. Developed reusable, extendable, and maintainable UI libraries for rapid prototyping and a shippable UI. Maintained, refactored, and extended a legacy iOS codebase on an agile team. Lead UX team through user and competitor research to redesign and launch on IOS and Android resulting in the highest yearly revenue for the platform.View Project
Designed and developed a native iOS freemium app that helps users track and count goals and habits then export colorful charts. The UI is intuitive to navigate, create, and edit using gestures allowing for a clean and beautiful interface with no clutter. Worked alongside UI, motion designers, and shader programmers to implement HUD, in-game markers, menus, and scoreboards for Halo 4 using Microsoft's proprietary SDK. Met Marketing's deadline for a Holiday launch. Created, maintained, updated, and tested UI templates used throughout the game.
My business partner and I conceived and developed an innovative consumer online product. The business was profitable within 5 weeks, thanks in part to our low-cost, grassroots marketing campaign that landed us a spot on NBC's Today Show and increased our 2011 Holiday conversion rate to 11%. In our second year, PillowMob grew 25%, driven by expanded social marketing and increased customer retention. After three successful Holiday seasons, I sold my equity for 70 times ROI.View Project
Working remotely through Github, I worked closely with other developers, the designer, and art director to architect and animate the Compare All Sedans graphs with Grunt, SASS, JQuery, TweenMax, and Raphael JS for desktop, tablet and mobile layouts. During fit and finish, I polished the animations and fixed bugs throughout the site.View Project
Led development of Cadillac's website. Plus Escalade, V-Series, and Team Cadillac campaigns. Managed cross-disciplinary teams that conceived, designed and developed the site to meet deadlines for new product releases and Super Bowl advertising.
Following the success of PillowMob, my business partner and I re-implemented the site's strategy, code-base, and connections, creating a new mass produced, custom product (PopMask) that allows everyone to be anyone. A PHP ImageMagick script stretches user-uploaded photos into correct mask proportions and overlays the pattern required to print and fulfill their order.
Working with jQuery and SVG animation, I designed and developed an experimental full screen portfolio website. Later, I moved on and went with the present portfolio responsive website.View Project
Worked with a small business owner to design their identity and brand in order to develop a low-cost website and blog using WordPress. After development, the site was optimized in order to draw more clients with better SEO.View Project
Working offsite in Seattle with designers in Chicago, I developed Flash experiences for Craftsman's home page and a Gift Finder for a Holiday campaign. Projects required branded animations and a complex GUI with dynamic content to be delivered on-time for campaign deadlines.

Shooting as a hobbyist, I have refined my composition and lighting skills to know what I want and how to capture a product shot — or a knockout — that grabs viewer attention.
